Our programs

Three rooms, one philosophy.

We group children by stage, with three rooms, each with its own rhythm and educators, all running the same Reggio-inspired approach.

Daytime hours for full-time and part-time families. On-demand care across all working hours for the days that don't fit a schedule.

Toddler classroom with low shelves and soft seating
Ages 18 months to 2.5 years

Discovery Zone (Toddlers)

The youngest room. Days are built around predictability, same educators, same routines, same faces, so toddlers can risk being curious. Sensory play, language-rich environments, and lots of outdoor time. We move slow on purpose.

Hours: full-time, part-time, on-demand
Preschool children painting with watercolors, hands-on creative learning at Give Me A Break
Ages 2.5 to 4 years

Explorers Club (Preschool)

The "why?" years. Preschoolers are scientists, builders, and storytellers, and the room is set up for it: open shelves, real materials, time to follow a question wherever it leads. Educators document what they're working through, then bring more of it the next day.

Hours: full-time, part-time, on-demand
Children exploring outdoors
Ages 4 to 6 years

Trailblazers (Kindergarten)

The bridge to elementary. We hold onto play-based learning while introducing the stamina, focus, and self-direction kids need for grade school. Lots of project work, lots of outdoor exploration, lots of authorship over their own day.

Hours: on-demand only

Our approach

Licensed Ontario care, Reggio Emilia-inspired, for children 18 months through 6 years.

Every licensed daycare in Ontario follows How Does Learning Happen?, the Province's pedagogical framework. It's our foundation, four principles (belonging, well-being, engagement, expression) that shape how every day is run.

On top of that, we draw from the Reggio Emilia approach, a child-led philosophy born in northern Italy that treats children as capable, curious people from day one. It's how we bring HDLH to life: routines you can count on, materials kids can actually reach, and educators who pay close attention.

From the founder

Why I built Give Me A Break.

I'm Jacqueline, educator, parent, and the founder of Give Me A Break.

I built GMAB because the childcare I needed didn't exist. Licensed, Reggio-inspired, and flexible enough to actually fit working family life, not just the 8-to-5 version of it. Every detail of this place, from the rooms to the rhythms to the on-demand booking, comes from years of watching families try to make standard daycare work and quietly burn out.

Whether you're here for full-time care, part-time care, or just an evening to breathe. Welcome.
